On January 1st, 2015 —

I survived a near fatal attack by my then partner while on holiday in Italy.

28 years old at the time, I never imagined my entire life’s trajectory would pivot from dance educator to international victims rights advocate.

Illuminated sign of a large hashtag symbol with 16 light bulbs against a dark background.
Statue of Lady Justice holding scales and a sword, with the sun shining behind her.
A crumpled piece of paper with a female gender symbol, a male gender symbol, and two horizontal lines written in black ink.

To date, my proudest achievements as a victims’ rights advocate have resulted in:

Canada strengthening its strangulation laws after bringing forward U.S. research from the Institute for Strangulation Prevention to the Canadian Department of Justice.

Italy extending its statute of limitations on GBV cases after lobbying to Rome’s legal advisor to the UK Ambassador.

But my work is far from done.

Three raised fists over a document titled "Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms" with a Canadian flag and a coat of arms above the title.
A young girl with a red bow in her hair standing in front of a brick wall with the word 'FOREVER' painted on it, casting a shadow on the wall.
